A Little Bit of Sweet

I used the Fat Quarter Shop free pattern ' Mini Charm Chocolates'

This cot quilt version was made with a mini charm pack that I had in my stash - some of the fabrics have a metallic thread running through them for a bit of sparkle.

This quilt measures 29" x 36" and I used some diagonal line quilting in the charm squares, then stretched loops in the sashing, with a simple vine in the border.

The backing is a flannel from my stash.

kia ora, everyone!

Update: Feb 2022: sold to Katrina Read for her new niece.

Bon Jour! x2 bassinet quilts

Another pair of quilts for the neo-natal unit, made from leftovers...

BON JOUR! CA VA? - 21" x 23"

BON JOUR! CA VA!  - 21" x 23"

Llama Fun! x2

A few more of the catch-ups for neo-natal bassinet quilts that I made in 2021 and haven't yet shared...

PARTY TIME LLAMAS - 20" x 24"

Made with leftover blocks from Benji's Blocks, and some llama fabric in my stash.

Keeping both quilts quick and simple with straight line echo quilting using the walking foot, and a spotty flannel backing with black polka dot binding

LLAMA PARTY FUN - 20" x 23"

Some Bassinet Quilts x3

Have realised that I have quite a pile of bassinet quilts to take to the Southland Hospital NeoNatal Unit soon, but haven't photographed and shared them yet, so am spending some holiday time to catch up on that.

GARDEN PICNIC - 20" x 22"

Made with leftover blocks from Sweet Wonderful You:

I used some echo straight line quilting and the backing is a Paris-themed print from my stash.

TANGLED UP IN BLUE - 19" x 23"

Made with leftovers from the Flight of Fancy quilt.

Again, quilted with the walking foot with some echo lines or diagonals, and this one has a cool pink polka dot binding.

The backing is a nursery rhyme flannel.
The quilt name is from a Bob Dylan song that I heard while I was making it.

ALL SQUARE - 19" x23"

Made with leftover blocks from Benji's Blocks (I had quite a few leftover!)

The backing is a colourful spotty flannel, and the binding is my favourite black polka dot.

Mataura Lad for Uncle John

I finished this one up before Christmas so I could gift it to my Uncle, affectionately known to most people by both of his given names, John Malcolm. Uncle John had a life-changing stroke in 2020, meaning that he had to leave Mataura, the town he had lived in for all his life, to move into a rest-home in Gore.

I used the walking foot to quilt it with wavy vertical lines, some intersecting, to represent the flow of the Mataura River that runs through the town.

Maroon and gold are the colours for Mataura sports and school teams, so I wanted to use them in a light lap quilt for him; I used a dark navy for the third colour. The rest-home is always well-heated, so I've only used a flannel as the batting.

On the backing I have appliqued Uncle John's initials (which were also my initials before I took my married surname) and used some leftover blocks.

The quilt is the Zella pattern by Sarah Campbell, which is in issue #40 of Make Modern e-magazine and it measures 52"sq.
