Freddie's Elephant

I made this little stuffed elephant for Freddie Norman (son of a past workmate of mine) who was born in January 2025.  His older brother and sister had each received an elephant so it was compulsory for me to make one for him too!

I love the elephant fabric!

It is the 'Eleni the Elephant' pattern that I ripped out from magazine 'Patchwork & Stitching Vol.17 No. 4 2011'.

Fox in a Twist

This cot quilt (measures 37.5" x 44") was a new baby gift for my cousin's new grandson, Jack Burgess, who was born in 2025.

The pattern is 'Jelly Roll Twist', a freebie from the Fat Quarter Shop, though I made it as 8" blocks not 9" as in the pattern.  The fabric was a woodlands themed jellyroll in my stash from Spotlight, and I added some other solids and prints from my stash.

I did an allover stipple on my Bernina Q20 longarm for the quilting, and it has a fox flannel backing.

Minnie's Delight

This neonatal bassinet quilt was made in 2025 with leftovers from the larger cot quilt 'Minnie For Meadow' and measures 18" x 20".

It was quilted with straight lines and loops using my domestic Elna 720, and it has a flannel backing.

It was donated to the Southland Hospital Neonatal Unit at Christmas.

Fox In a (Set)

These four neonatal bassinet quilts were made with the leftovers from a cot quilt.  They all measure about 18" x 20" and have a fox print flannel backing.  These were donated to the neonatal unit at Southland Hospital at the end of 2025,

'Foxing Around"

'Foxing About'

'Foxing Anew'

Minnie For Meadow cot quilt

This cot quilt was made in 2025 (yes, I am still catching up on last year's projects!) for Meadow, the new baby girl of my cousin's daughter Emma Dawson - Emma is a big fan of Minnie Mouse so I thought this set of Disney fat quarters (plus a couple of extra fabrics for colour variations) would be well received.

I used the pattern 'Jumping Jack' by Sue Pfau from her book 'Quilts From Sweet Jane' - it is an easy pattern and I have used it before (in 2018, and in n 2016).

The quilt measures 37.5" x 39". I quilted it on my Bernina Q20 longarm with diagonal lines and some zig-zag loops.  The backing used a sweet little bird floral flannel.

And yes, the quilt was indeed well received - here is Meadow (and also the family dog, named Minnie!)

Animal Applique Quilt

I was asked to do some custom quilting on this beautiful appliqued quilt for a friend who had made it for a new grandbaby.

It took me about four hours, two bobbins, and approx 55,000 stitches to complete on my Bernina Q20 longarm. I free-motion quilted a stipple in the white background of each animal with a white Wonderfil Master Q thread, leaving the applique animals as they were.

In the busy, daisy sashing and the gingham border I used a ruler and ruler foot to do simple straight line grids.

Easter Bunny neonatal bassinet quilts

These three were made early in 2025 but I didn't get a chance to take them to the NeoNatal Unit before Easter...they will get handed out in 2026 as were dropped off to the NNU at Southland Hospital this Christmas.

Again, they were made to use up some franken-backings that I had made from leftover pieces of flannel when tidying up the scraps boxes at the end of 2024.  They all have a blue polka dot binding. It doesn't show in the photos, but the rabbit print fabric has glitter!

'Hop To It' measures 18.5" x 20".

'Hopping Around' measures 18.5" x 20".

'Hopping Along' measures 18" x 20.5".

Goodnight Sweetheart & Bedtime Stories NNU bassinet quilts

'Goodnight Sweetheart' bassinet quilt - 18" x 20".

Uses up some grey flannel in the backing, and has a cute yellow pinstripe binding.

Some diagonal quilting, and some wavy lines.

'Bedtime Stories' NNU bassinet quilt - also made to help use up a franken-backing of flannel:

Measures 18" x 19.5". The print actually has quotes from nursery rhymes.
