May's tote bag

Number three in the set, made from a layer cake of Sandy Gervais (for Moda) 'Frolic', using a pattern called 'On the Move':

The full panel - the complete outer layer is patched and then quilted before assembling the bag.
Close up of the straight line stitching on one end panel.
Close up of the double stipple free-motion quilting (thanks Leah Day!) on some of the  panels.

Mrs Perkins giraffe #9

Right! I said I would get these giraffes finished in April and this one was! The other three...not quite.

I can only put the legs on one giraffe a day as gripping the doll making needle and getting it through the thicknesses of stuffed limbs results in quite sore fingers (so have been also working on quilting another bag).

Pattern is Mrs Perkins from Melly & Me. Height approx 18"
In 2014 this was given to Bex Brown, our te reo Maori teacher, to await the arrival of her new baby daughter.

One for me!

Another bag from this 'On the Move' Moda Bakeshop pattern, also made with the same Sandy Gervais 'Frolic' fabrics as the previous bag...in my 'enjoying-a-weekend-of-peace-and-quiet' delirium (and probably because I was watching a movie at the same time so not concentrating properly) I made a 'variation' of the pattern (ten points if you can spot where I went wrong) but I had planned to keep this one for myself anyway to use to carry my teaching gear to school each day as I love the colours.

Side B

An up-close of the free-motion quilting, using a variegated thread,
and a different pattern on each fabric...
...more FMQ...
simple straight line edging on the small panels.

Giraffes in progress and a new BOM block

Here is a head shot of my latest bunch of gals...eyes and lashes on, ears and horns on, manes and tails on...legs still to be put on!

And the latest block from the Moda Designer Mystery BOM - "County Fair" by Julie Comstock from www.CosmoCricket.com...

And I spent the first day of the holidays catching up on pre-washing and ironing the pile of new fabrics I've built up over the past few months...boy, the plans I have for this lot!
