Gifted today to our five-year old nephew, Fergus (Gus) - he's a big school boy now just like his two older brothers, so he gets a quilt from me as did Austyn and Bain!
The Lorax is such a good story, with an important message, and you just can't beat Dr Seuss for fun language and illustrations. I bought this panel kit from the Fat Quarter Shop after Gus was born and have had it tucked away for his 5th birthday - I got it all sewn up well ahead of time during the school holidays in January and have been admiring the bright colours as it's been laying on the spare bed.
It is a single bed quilt, with 9 picture panels on the front and one on the back. I have been collecting extra Dr Seuss fabrics from Spotlight over the past couple of years, so that helped hugely to bulk out the kit's supplied fat quarters.
I quilted it from top to bottom with wavy horizontal lines, using a multicoloured thread; super easy.
The binding is one of my favourites - a black and white geometric;
and this quilt was one of my goals for the 2017 FinishAlong First Quarter.
Linking up with Kelly's Needle and Thread Thursday - as well as my other favourite linky party...Amanda Jean's Finish It Up Friday - kia ora everyone!
What a great quilt! Love Dr. Seuss.
