Christmas Stocking for Fergus

Another tick on my to-do list for 2012 - the stocking for my brother's third son, Fergus Turnbull - this is his first Christmas...
Fergus and family are coming for a pre-xmas bbq on Sunday evening
so he will be able to take the stocking home with him!

Initial stages - I put most of it together last Sunday night.
Felt, completely hand-stitched, used a blanket stitch for most of it,
attached buttons and ricrac.

Decided on a gingerbread man to complement the
stockings made for Fergus' big brothers (see below).

A bag for Rose

This week I finished up this little bag as a farewell gift for my work colleague, Rose Dickison; am very happy to say that she was delighted with it!

Made up the pattern by myself - the finished bag is 12.5" wide by 13.5" long,w ith 24"handles.

The fabric squares were from a charm pack of Moda Modern Workshop by Liesl Gibson for Oliver + S for Moda. The turquoise fabric is by Timeless Treasures Fabrics and I used it to line the bag too.

Quilter's Blog Hop Party Dec 2012

This competition is now closed - congratulations to entry #90 Lesley  who wrote:
I don't know much about New Zealand, but I love black and white fabrics, so I will learn a bit more geography if the giveaway gets mailed to my house! Thanks for the chance!
- five fat quarters to come your way soon! Merry Christmas everyone!

Hi all, welcome to my post for the Quilter's Blog Hop party, thanks for dropping by!

This is my first time as a member of a blog hop and I have a giveaway - as a proud New Zealander I thought it would be appropriate to have a black and white set of fat quarters (our national colour is black, and b&w also happen to be the school colours of the school where I work!)

To enter the draw please just leave me a comment telling what you love about NZ (if you live here) or what you know about NZ (if you are overseas).

The draw will be done when the blog hop ends on December 15th and I will contact the winner (if you have left your email address or can be contacted via your profile).

Just HAD to throw in this photo of my coral sunset peony roses!
This bush is coming to the end of its season, my red peonies are still in full bloom.
Please feel free to check out some of my posts...I have tonight begun making another bag (that I will hopefully finish tomorrow night), and gave my latest lap quilt finish a quick go-over with the iron (this photo is pre-iron!):
A farewell gift for my colleague of the last five years, Anne Johansen.
as well as folding up my daisy quillow:

A farewell gift for my colleague of the past two years, Abby de Groot
(who is heading to New York to live my dream life for me! Lucky girl!)

Thanks again for viewing my blog! Have a good week!
