Saturday sewing!

I linked up with the Friday Night Sew-In - spent Friday night cutting fabrics and today sewing them up!

Brian took Kieran on the motorbike to visit Nana Olive in Gore, left Kieran there for the night as Kieran had arranged earlier in the week, then motorbiked over to Winton then home again (after which we drove to Invercargill to see the movie 'Two Little Boys', which was awesome by the way!)

So was just me, my sewing machine and Kimbra, Gin Wigmore, Crystal Bowersox and Bon Jovi in the living room for the afternoon! Gotta love it!

Got this month's Moda Designer Mystery BOM made:
"Breezy Afternoon" designed by Aneela Hoey
And created this bag - I just love this bird fabric - influenced by this bag and these bags that I have made already - a combo of the patterns.

Gift tote bag for my 3rd year trainee teacher, Saskia Van den Beld,
who has been working with  my class this year.

Black and white tote bag

Sept 2012: from a pattern in Handmade magazine (Vol 28, no 11) called Shabby Gal Tote, by Fiona Ransley - with a slight adaptation in that I put five stripes in each panel instead of six and didn't put a big fabric flower on the front (as, of course, it doesn't need one because the birds are the feature!).

Can now (November) reveal that it was a (well-organised in advance for a change!) birthday gift for my friend Megan Lindsay.

I, meanwhile, have since bought more of the bird fabric as have used so much of what I had for other projects and intend to use it for something for myself one day!

A note to recycling - have used curtain lining for the interfacing and handles - is firmer than the fabric yet still soft.

More bags!

Finished these two today (at last - good things take time yeah?)

It is a red fabric but the inside night time photo doesn't show it that well.

Same pattern as these bags, just a different colour scheme...

Happy birthday Rachael Hutton-Atkins!

Happy birthday Karen Hyde!
And finished these two as well...
Happy birthday Alison Twaddle!

Happy birthday Joanne Morris!
