Cat approval granted...

Well, now that my String of Pearls Remixed quilt is finished (see it here), I took advantage of still being on school holiday to get straight into my version of a Fat Quarter Fizz quilt (though I stuffed up on the placement of the fabrics, so was not able to get the design looking right, and decided to make a new design by cutting the block rows at semi-random widths and re-sewing them to make what I am calling my Fat Quarter Fizzy! Sigh...)

Anyway, this newest project obviously passes the feline warmth factor test...either that or Rumbles is really just looking for attention...just not very helpful when I am wanting to get onto basting! (He does this when I want to make the bed too!)
When I turned back from getting the basting pins...

...he had a "so what are you going to do about it?" glance at me...

...then moved into his favourite sleep position...

Yes, he is a weird cat - this is his "I'm blissed out" sleeping position, mostly seen when on sofa or in front of fireplace.

After being evicted, he got the hint...

..but didn't go far! (Note the tail still touching the batting - yes, he is red-headed rebel!)

I think he was missing Brian's lap to lie on...

but at least it meant I could finally lay out my Fizzy quilt to start pinning (before the netball game started!)

Fabric: Merry Little Girls Stonehenge range by Deborah Edwards and Linda Lucovico for Northcott Fabrics

Do you pin baste on the carpet? Do you ever have problems with catching the carpet in your pins? Anyway, it's a pretty sweet looking quilt.

I pin-basted today too. I so hate doing it on the floor - I'd rather table baste when possible - but it went pretty quickly, which I'm really happy about.

    1. Hi, yes I always do it down on the floor (though it can get hard on the knees) but the carpet is fairly well trampled so I don't have too many troubles with catching it with the pins! Thanks for stopping by, have fun with the quilting ...I'll race ya!

  2. Oh, cats! They're always such experts at settling exactly where they're not wanted! Our orange tabby also sometimes blisses out in a similarly happy and ridiculous position.

  4. What a lovely quilt - I see why Rumbles loves it so! The color selection really works, and I love the way the flowers pop. My cat Elliot (also a big red/orange male... only without the white) also has the same "blissed out" position. I actually think it is secretly an invitation for tummy rubs :-)

    1. Oh no! We warn visitors that it is all a trap and not to even try it! They might get one stroke before the ginger-ninja attacks! Thanks for the comments, I am really loving the girlie colours too!

  5. Hee Hee. Typical cat.
Some years ago we sometimes had a visitor cat from one of our neighbors. She liked to nap on our sofa, and she slept in the same position.
    Lovely, girly quilt!

  6. I really like your fizzy layout. It adds a neat touch. I saw those fabrics at my LQS yesterday, and now I'm even more tempted.

    1. Thanks Jasmine! It was the only way I could think of to rescue it without unpicking the whole lot (am far too lazy for that sort of carry on!) You should get some of the fabric, it is so delightful I sigh every time I pick it up (am stitching in the ditch today and will FMQ next weekend I hope).
