Spider-Man Pillow

I made this 18" pillow/cushion with leftovers from my nephew's quilt, using the front panel as a trial quilting sandwich to practice the spider web designs that I used on Bain's quilt, and the minky back panel as a practice run for the next quilt that I have got ready to finish (and it has a minky backing).

Linking up with Amanda Jean's Finish It Up Friday and Shannon's KISMIF!

2015: this sold to Shaz Harvey for a Spring special price of $30.

  2. Wonderful quilting... again! What did you think of the minky? I'm not that excited by it, but it seems very popular. :-)

    1. Hi Taryn, I was hesitant as haven't used it before (and tend to avoid polyester based fabrics) but a minky chevron was the best backing option for my next quilt-to-finish, so trying some on the cushion was a good chance to see how it would go. Of course, the minky was face up on this project (whereas it will be on the bottom layer for the next one and I imagine it will slide alright, will just need to be sure to baste firmly I think). I wear grip gloves when I quilt so that helped me keep it steady for this pillow panel. I'm only following the chevron lines on the next quilt, so hopefully it will all go okay! Watch this space!

  3. After reading this post, I just had to sneak down and read about the quilt you made for your nephew, too. Wow! These are both great finishes! Love the quilting designs you used. Practicing on this pillow was a great idea. Your nephew sure looked so pleased in the photo you shared. No wonder! These are great!
