Jelly roll race part 2!

Have finished the first small lap quilt: gotta love the school holidays!!

My mum was admiring this so I gave it to her!

The back. I just did a simple scalloped quilting in the border as I wanted to keep it soft.

Mystery block #12 and Jelly Roll Race Part B

Finished the final block in the 2012-2013 Moda Designer Mystery BOM:

Is called 'April Showers' and is designed by Sweetwater www.Sweetwater.Typepad.com

Is a bit wonky but should look okay by the time I put all the 12 blocks together, which is one of my school holiday goals - first day of the two-week break today...

Kieran has gone to spend the afternoon at a friend's, Brian is getting some work done at school, I have got Bon Jovi blasting the stereo, sun is shining through the windows, fire is crackling, cat is stretched out on the carpet and the dog has her nose pressed on the glass wanting in. Sewing machine is about to be cranked up so I can quilt this jellyroll race lap quilt...catch you later!

Jellyroll race - Circa 1934

Made the most of my loyalty discount at Kits'n'Things in late May to buy a Moda Cosmo Cricket jellyroll of Circa 1934.
Straight home to spend a quiet weekend afternoon creating a jellyroll race lapquilt - the top at least!

Decided to mix up the bundle and just sew together whichever strip I picked up when I reached out

Now just need to put it together and quilt it.

A prize! And a present!

Very excited in June:

first I find out I had won a major prize from the Quilting Gallery blog - a quilt kit from the Fat Quarter Shop for their 'Deckade the Halls' Christmas quilt-along...the parcel arrived from the States last Saturday ...

 - 15 yards of fabric, front and back of quilt - the Aspen Frost collection by BasicGrey for Moda Fabrics - can't wait to get started on making it...

...AND on the same day I had already been to the Art of Craft shop in Gore and bought these with the gift voucher Mum gave me for my birthday...
...a couple of batik fat quarters, a set of four red and grey toned fat quarters, and a Riley Blake layer cake. Thanks Mum!!

Now, I just need to sort out a machine that can free-motion quilt...my 20 year old Elnita dressmaking machine just isn't coping (I only have a generic embroidery foot which my machine sometimes likes using and then other times doesn't!...sigh!)
