Baby quilt

Another holiday completion and one of my Finish Along Quarter 2 goals: a baby quilt, made as a super large free motion quilting practice 'sandwich'...

The centre strips have loops, daisies or straight line stitching, while the outer border has straight lines with crosses and the end borders have large crosses with alternating fancy stitch (trying out one of the in-built embroidery stitches on the machine).

The backing is a soft pink paisley and the binding is a Remix Ovals in aqua on aqua.

Linking up with my overseas quilting buddies at Kelly's Needle and Thread Thursday linky party and with Amanda Jean's Friday Night Finish It Up!

    1. Hi, yes, after the rough (and chilly) start to the week we went back to some lovely sun. There is definitely an autumn chill in the air though.

    1. Hi Linda, it was a super way to practice! I recommend it - small size quilt, no pressure to 'get it right'!

  5. Very nice on the FMQ. I used to do a lot of it before I got my longarm. People would talk to me a lot about how they are just afraid to try and afraid to practice. Practice is the only way to get better and feel confident. You are doing a great job. Lovely fabric choices, too.

    1. I totally agree with you Terry, it all just takes practice and hey, if there are a few oopsies then they just add to the charm and the handmade genuinity! Maybe one day I will get a long arm but until then I will make the most of my sewing machine.
