Good things take time and today Tracey (who celebrated a significant birthday back on Valentine's Day) finally received her 'Couch Cosy' lap quilt! And am sharing my completion this week with the Friday Night Finish link-up party at Crazy Mom Quilts...
Quilted in black and red on the top, mid grey on the back: tri-diagonal lines through the stripped blocks, alternating red-black-red, and a criss-cross surrounded by straight line stitching in the square-framed blocks, in black.
Approx. 125cm square (50" sq), made with fabrics purchased from Kits'n'Things in Invercargill. The pattern was based on Julie@Jaybird Quilts' 'Radio Way' design.
The backing is a wide Robert Kaufman backing, and the binding is made from alternating strips of grey solid and black/red/grey prints.
This is a beautiful quilt. I especially love the multi-colored binding -- what a fun touch!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kat, it took a bit of work to make the binding with the different pieces but I got there in the end!
DeleteLove the colors of this quilt! My favorite part is the pop of red in the binding! Great job!!
ReplyDeleteCheers Laura, I like the variety in the binding too. Thanks for the feedback!
DeleteWhat a gorgeous combination of colours and fabrics for this cozy quilt. Looks fabulous! Tracey's going to love it! Well worth the wait!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lorna - the weather has turned very wintery today so I am sure Tracey will be making use of it already!

ReplyDeleteThanks Judy, as soon as I saw how the colour combo was looking I knew exactly who to give it to!

ReplyDeleteHi Jen, just found you through your comment on Natalia Bonners quilting blog. Nice to find another NZ Blogger that quilts! I am in Whangarei Northland. Lovely quilt by the way.
ReplyDeleteOh very cool! Yes, there are not many of us appearing on these blogs so it is always nice to hear from another kiwi! Have a super week - it has turned nasty down here winter-wise and I've just had a text from a friend in Cromwell to show me her daughter is snuggled up under her birthday quilt to watch TV - exactly what it is intended for! Cheers, Jenny
DeleteThat is a pretty combo of colors and prints. Well done! It looks super cozy as well!
ReplyDeleteNIce to hear from you Vera! Yes, I think the quilt is well named, and with some autumn snow trying to arrive it would seem the delivery of the quilt was well-timed!
DeleteWhat a pretty quilt! Perfect for snuggling! It looks like it's going to be well-used. Isn't that the best way to show appreciation for the beautiful work and talent?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely comments - I agree totally!
DeleteBet this is coming in handy these last couple of days!!
ReplyDeleteI think it might have been! A taste of what's to come I guess!
