It is a (very belated) 13th birthday gift for Jack, the eldest son of one of my best friends, who this year has headed off to boarding school in Dunedin. His mum Rachel gave me colour options of blue and gold (Otago) or red and black (Canterbury). I figured red and black would look more masculine for this design, which I had been wanting to try for ages!
It is a single bed/twin bed quilt, made using Amanda Jean's Easy Chevron pattern - and it certainly was easy. Fabrics are from Spotlight: a red solid and a black with tone-on-tone spots.
Have just quilted with a simple echo lines that follow the shape of the zigzags and then straight lines across the border from the main panel to the binding.
It is backed with a red/white chevron minky and a strip of black minky (all so soft to touch) which is quite heavy so I just used flannel as the batting. The binding is just the same red solid as used for the chevrons on the front.62" x 72" |
